MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

As of April 30, 2008:

  • LifeSharers has 11,265 members.  This represents a 31% increase over last April’s total of 8,595 members.  We have members in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
  • 9,960 LifeSharers members have qualified for preferred access to the organs of fellow members.  Members are eligible for preferred access 180 days after joining LifeSharers.
  • 69 LifeSharers members are on the United Network for Organ Sharing’s transplant waiting list.  Of these, 66 have qualified for preferred access to the organs of fellow members.

Please let us know if you are on the United Network for Organ Sharing waiting list for an organ.  We will make available to relatives of deceased members the names of LifeSharers members who have qualified for preferred access to their loved one’s organs.

Please tell your friends, family, and colleagues about LifeSharers.  Every new member decreases the chance you’ll die waiting for an organ.  Membership is free and open to all at http://www.lifesharers.org or by calling 1-888-ORGAN88.

MYSPACE

Do you have a MySpace page?  If so, please join the LifeSharers group.  The following message, received from a LifeSharers member, shows how you can help spread the word about LifeSharers on MySpace:

I joined LifeSharers about 18 months ago and hopefully will never need it, but I strongly believe in your policy.  I've been an organ donor for many years and one day I read about LifeSharers in our local newspaper and decided to join. GREAT IDEA!  My entire family lives 900 miles from me and we decided the best way to see pictures of everyone and keep in touch was for all of us to get a MySpace page.  There is a tab that allows for Groups for chatting, etc.  You can either join one, start one, blog, whatever, so I entered LifeSharers.org as my group.  Yesterday I was revising some areas of my page and clicked the Group tab by accident.  Much to my surprise, 7 people I know who have viewed my MySpace page joined Lifesharers.org!  What a great way to advertise for free and spread the word not only nationally, but across the globe!  The more friends you make who view your page, the more people exposed to LifeSharers and your wonderful organization!  Just thought you'd like to know of something that never occurred to me but was a pleasant surprise.
